Awakening Through Time: Internal journey to Karnak and the Underworld

This past week has felt like a portal. One where time bends and ancient threads weave themselves into the present moment. It started with a vision that shook me to my core, but now I see how the pieces are forming a larger tapestry.

It began with Karnak. I wasn’t looking for it, but it found me. During an acupuncture session, I saw a stone city, one I am not familiar with, but it was ancient and felt alive. The structures were massive, etched with wisdom and energy. It felt unmistakably Egyptian, but not just a memory. I could feel it in my body. After a sudden wave of acceleration, like speeding over a hill and catching air, a euphoric high left me breathless. I wasn’t just seeing Karnak, it was like I was there. Before this vision, it was as if my insides sped up at high speeds, moving through time. Osiris was there to greet me when I arrived.

Shortly after this experience, Osiris appeared in my oracle deck. His presence was a confirmation. It was like he was another key. I had already sensed that the library I’ve been searching for might be in Egypt—perhaps tied to the Hall of Records. And now Osiris was guiding me deeper. The wisdom I’ve been feeling drawn to wasn’t just a passing curiosity, it was like I was remembering.

I’ve noticed that other people I’ve spoken to are going through these same inner-like portals within themselves, being unlocked as we navigate this trajectory of awakening.

About a week after my experience at the acupuncturist, I entered a deep meditative state. That same wave of acceleration returned, but this time, a picture emerged: I was standing on a boat, moving through some sort of body of water. Then the next picture came into view—Hades. But not the dark, terrifying figure people fear. It was Disney’s Hades—his blue flame flickering as he smiled, gliding his hand across the flame on his gray head.

When he appeared, I almost lost it. I had to chuckle and wonder, What is he doing here?

Then the image shifted. A cloaked figure appeared, holding a staff. He radiated the presence of what we might perceive as the Grim Reaper, later learned he might have been Charon, the man who ferries people to the underworld. The image changed one last time, his back was turned toward me, one arm extended to hold the large staff. He stood on a stone pathway, colored a deep rustic orange.

This led me down my own rabbit hole of research. I wanted to know how these two correlated and why they were showing up for me. I discovered that Osiris and Hades are both gods of death and the underworld. And the Library of Alexandria, the very place I’ve been drawn to, was a hub of knowledge for both the Egyptians and the Greeks. This left me in a “to be continued” situation, knowing there’s more to uncover.

And then, the most unexpected synchronicity happened.

One morning, my son came into my room as we were getting ready to leave the house. As we talked, I felt the strongest pull toward my Oracle of the Celestial Deities deck sitting on my bed. I grabbed it and decided to pull a card for him. When I opened the box and took out the book, he pointed at the artwork and said, “That’s Hades.”

My jaw dropped, because it wasn’t Hades. He was insistent, which left me stunned. I asked if he had heard me talk about Hades, but he said he hadn’t.

I shuffled the cards as we continued talking, and Pluto jumped out. Low and behold, the character the author chose for Pluto was Hades. My son immediately recognized him and pointed out Cerberus, the three-headed dog. At this point, we were both buzzing with excitement.

This gave me the perfect opportunity to teach him about how messages are received, and how they can be interpreted. I showed him the prompt I had typed into my AI the week before about receiving the vision of Hades. His little mind was spinning with curiosity.

We started reading the book about Hades and reached the part where he kidnapped Persephone and took her to the underworld to make her his bride. My son asked me what Persephone looked like. I decided to show him because I knew her card was in the deck because I had pulled it a couple of months ago. But when we searched for it, the card was missing.

We were both mind-blown. After about ten minutes, I realized we were watching the energies of the deities play out in real time. When this clicked, I told him—and right at that moment, he found her card.

Queen Persephone had risen from the underworld. It was such a symbolic moment—especially with my youngest son being the deliverer of this message.

My son mirrors the shadow of myself that I’ve struggled to heal. The parts of me I’m not proud of, the behaviors I displayed as a teenager, show up in him. I’ve worked hard on my healing journey, but this reflection in him has been the hardest to face. Deep down, I knew I had to go within and face those dark parts of myself that I had kept hidden for so long.

It felt like a personal confirmation that I’ve completed that task. I’ve descended into the depths, faced my shadows without fear, and emerged stronger. Each time I make that descent, parts of me are shed, so that when I rise, I am reborn into the light, just as Persephone was.

This unfolding feels inevitable, yet filled with mystery. And as I watch my son’s curiosity bloom alongside my own awakening, I know we are walking together toward something greater, years of generational wounds being healed through us.

We are so quick to run from the dark parts of us that make us feel uncomfortable, but maybe we are supposed to befriend those dark parts of us. They are apart of us after all.

Hi! My name is Dakota. I am someone who is learning with you along the way, but we are all on separate journeys and we all still have things that were able to share and teach to others. Just as most of you I have also overcome a lot of struggles and hardships, and still facing them, because that's life. I don't want any of us to feel as if were alone in this. I did my studies in art and anthropology. So humans and creations are my passion. I want the best for all of us, and in doing so, we need to start creating! So lets do it!
